I've been on this web shit for a minute, the STL hip hop entity to launch online, I was promoting tha Lou waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before there was a Nelly or The Beat 100.3 and way before the RFT, American or Evening Whirl caught the vapors. Lauched stlhiphop.com back in 2000 while I was serving as Hip Hop Music Director at the old mp3.com...which is also where I launched my label Digable Records NMA, my label was and still is affiliated with my mentor Paradise(X-Clan, the HNIC for hip hop at mp3.com) and Planet Meridian run by my girl Chase.
Cohosted Ruff Clips with Khidar which ultimately became Phat Clips hosted by Da Fly DX. If STL hip hop had 5 star gens, ya girl would definately be one of em... I had one of the first hip hop
spots...the warehouse at Grand & Lindell, planned one of St. Louis' biggest underground showcases HEADFEST, Thurs-Sun event showcasing over 30 hip hop acts...we had over 40 mcs in the freestyle battle alone... Went up against Jeff Stephens and the RFT, Pete Rothchild, Ted Koplar and still standing to tell about it. ...don't get me started on the haters!!! Fuck it, I'm starting. A lot of those closest to me, in my inner circle when it comes to this rap shit are my biggest haters. They're actually lightweights in comparison to the shit I've been through...but they don't know that.
My resume gets more extensive when we talk national, but for now I'ma limit it to this St. Louis shit. I own stlhiphop.com, skiptothelou.com, Digable Records NMA, online radio and itunes podcasts. Been there, done that: The Source, Ozone, producer for Lizz Brown & The Wake Up Call, had a show on KSLU, threw sets, made a lotta money, lost a lotta money...got my supporters and I got my critics.

I should have known when First Civilizations hit me up with an email about Nikki Giovanni's book signing, I should have double and even triple checked the 4oNe1, I mean if they can't send out emails without sending them in sextuplicates, it shouldn't have come as a surprise that they listed the wrong location and had the audacity to copp maja attitude. Even still, I managed not only to catch a glimpse of the sista who's the reason I write, but also managed to sting the CEO of St. Louis Public Libraries in the process before his goon got at me.

Sometimes when you do everything you're supposed to do, you still get a feeling that shit ain't gonna go right...and when that happens you gotta know how to roll with the punches, which of course ya derrties do as evidenced by what happened when b-gyrl, Big Lou & DirkBrown set out for the Jon B show at The Loft. Features performances by Nite Owl & Isis Jones. This clip gets way dark near the end, the lighting at Rue 13 f'kd up our autofocus, so you'll need to manually adjust the brightness.

Gyrls Behaving Badly: ya know some of the best shit happens after the show, this time b-gyrl gets at G Child, T Baby & the Fyreboy camp, Steve of Digital Express and Melanie of Midwest Live after the Diamonds & Denim party at Dantes right before Tedi & Rae school b on tattoos (while displaying the many, many, many tats they have all over) and break down the definition of a pussy crusher.
